Rebekah Hood-Sava is a Classical artist writing music with a contemporary and film music twist. After years enjoying performing and teaching in the classical vein, California-based Rebekah Hood-Sava found her voice in this solo debut. "Emerge" is an exploration of the private emotional world that exists in one’s own mind and spirit with the music representing the stepping out of this inner world and blossoming it into being, as if coming out of a cacoon to harvest the musical ideas and creativity ready to bloom.
Emerge is composed of 9 tracks inspired by the desire to release her inner creativity. Hood-Sava is a professional cellist and stems from formal classical training. She has been writing and arranging songs and select pieces for several years, and at the urging of her husband decided to finally put her energies into a full debut album. The tracks flow together in an arch form to take the listener on a journey of the heart and what it takes emotionally to expose one’s hidden talents. “The album was composed with the image of a butterfly emerging from a cacoon and then exploring the world in its new form.” Hood-Sava spans from ambient sounds to catchy driving rhythmic ostinatos throughout the album which is reminiscent of classical minimalists as well as singer-songwriters. Influenced by Zoe Keating, Max Richter, Rachel Grimes, Andrew Bird, Julia Kent, and many more.
And while each song varies in tone, structure, and theme, they are all originals and circle back to the universal theme of coming out of ones’ shell. “Emerge comes deep from my heart, with complexity, simplicity, and sometimes a catchy collection of reminders that one can explore inner beauty in new ways at any moment in life.” Rebekah also makes films with her husband, and many listeners have felt her music has a cinematic quality.
